Today's Helpful Hint: One way to address a traumatic or bothersome memory is to role play. Here I ask the client to teach me how to be his or her mother/father/uncle/etc. so I can re-enact the scene as accurately as possible. I ask for important things such as tone of voice, posture, gestures, a look in the eyes, etc. This helps bring up aspects and allows us to be more thorough. I usually do this after I think we have previously reduced the intensity of the scene to a manageable level ... OR ... if I think a client is repressing and needs to get more in touch with the issue.

Featured Article #1: EFT resolves limiting childhood beliefs: Kate Beeders says, "Parents often teach their young children beliefs to protect them. However, those beliefs often get carried over into adult lives where they are no longer helpful." In this article, she helps her client get beyond the limiting belief of "Don't talk to strangers." Featured Article #2: How to avoid the symptoms of a sunburn!: Here's a useful "EFT First Aid" tip from Arinda Davis. Several days after applying EFT for her sunburn she says, "Then it occurred to me that the burn I had gotten on my shoulders had never materialized. It had gone away so completely that I had forgotten I had ever had it. After I tapped, there was no redness, soreness, or itching." Please consult physicians on all medical issues. Email Arinda
Featured Article #3: EFT First-Aid - The burn with no blisters: In this first-aid use of EFT for a burn, note how Joan Hathaway-Sheldon zeroed in on an emotional issue. After applying EFT she says, "...and there have been no blisters or peeling. I've had burns in the past and they've never reacted like this and this was far more severe." Please consult physicians on all medical issues. Email Joan

- Many benefits from tapping on a prayer: Give this interesting idea by eaglemoon raes a try. Use it as a daily ritual and see what happens. My guess is that your life will unfold more positively.
- The ABC approach to EFT: Gwyneth Moss provides a simple structure to the EFT process that helps people find the "words that work."
- How to handle a "vague feeling" with EFT: Gwyneth Moss from the UK gives a step-by-step case wherein a vague feeling of dread was successfully collapsed. Note how the core issue just showed up during the process. This often happens with EFT and is one of the delightful benefits of persistence.
- Aiming EFT at our Future: Among other things, Mair Llewellyn from the UK shows us how to borrow positive events from the past and transplant them into a positively unfolding future.
- An even more tearless trauma technique: Our popular Tearless Trauma Technique has been an extraordinarily useful method for addressing very intense emotional issues while (usually) minimizing pain. In essence, this process asks the client to guess at his/her emotional intensity rather than drag themselves through a painful memory. For an extremely intense issue, the mere mention of it can send some clients off into a tailspin before you can apply EFT. Here is where this useful idea by Rod Sherwin (from Australia) comes into play. For those of you with NLP backgrounds, this is a borrowed "pattern interrupt."
- A long list of successes by an EFT Newbie: For those wondering what is possible by a diligent EFT newcomer, just peruse this list by Linda Thompson. It covers everything from pain to relationships to addictions to dyslexia. Please consult physicians on all medical issues.
