Enhancing the life of Burak -- a Down Syndrome client
Hi Everyone,
Here's a good look at using EFT with Burak, a child having Down Syndrome (DS). Inci Erkin, MD from Turkey gives us a medical look at the condition and shows us how EFT can be very useful in enhancing the lives of these wonderful people. Note the picture of Dr. Erkin and Burak (who is tapping his Karate Chop point).
Also note that English is not Dr. Erkin's first language. Nonetheless, she gets her point across well.

Dear Gary,
Burak will be 9 years old in a few months. I am working with him since he was 6 years old. He was going to a school where mentally retarded children have special education.
He has a genetic disorder named - Trisomy 21 or Down syndrome. This means he has 3 of the chromosome-21. We, the normals, have 2 of each chromosome. We, the humans, all have 46 chromosomes. 22-pairs of the autosomal chromosomes. 1- pair is our sex chromosomes. That makes - 46 chromosomes in each cell.
Down syndrome is a genetic disorder, I say it, it is a genetic traffic accident. They have 47 chromosomes.
As the child bearing woman gets older, the risk of having a DS kid increases. But there are many young woman who gives birth to a DS child. During the pregnancy there are screening tests which show you if the risk is increased. Also a woman over 40 years of age can have an amniosynthesis, which shows clearly whether the fetus has a genetic disorder or not.
DS children usually have low IQ's. They are affected by frequent infections, heart problems, eye-ear-speech problems, blood disorders, gout problems, musculo-skeletal problems, epilepsy, autism.
Burak was a patient of my husband who is an Ear-Nose-Throat specialist. He was having very frequent upper respitory infections. His immune system was not functioning well, he became ill very quickly. He couldn't develop well, he was short and thin.
We performed all his laboratory tests. He was anemic, he had low thyroid functions and had autoimmune thyroiditis. He had to have an adenotonsillectomi operation. After proper medications, we also gave him a good nutritional support ( like soya granules, Omega 3,etc).
We believed in Burak, he and his family believed in us.
He was an anxious little boy, sometimes bad tempered. I worked with him and his mother wih EFT. He learned EFT like learning a play, and he liked it! As a result, he is growing better in height and weight. Further, he doesn't become ill frequently, he is healthy now. He is able to read slowly, and write.
This year he is going to a normal school with normal children. His teacher and friends with 46 chromosomes(!) adores him. Anyway, he does not have a deficiency, he has an extra chromosome!
We are not expecting EFT to cure Down Syndrome but, it sure helps them clearing the emotions like any other people. This is very important, because these children are very emotional and sensitive. Do EFT with their parents also, it will help all the family to heal themselves, and be more happy.
EFT and LOVE together can make wonders!
When working with children, it is a good idea to give them a toy baby or a toy bear, and ask them to tap on the toy when you tap on them. Then the whole thing becomes like a play for the child.
