How watching the EFT DVDs helped a nausea case

Hi Everyone,
EFT Newcomer Aparna Natarajan uses EFT to help an acupuncturist bring relief to a patient. Aparna gained a solid grasp of the EFT basics from our beginning DVDs and displays that knowledge nicely in this article.
Hugs, Gary
In this article, I want to share my experience after viewing The EFT Course DVD set. Two years ago I was able to apply EFT to myself and my children with amazing ease, but when it came to applying it or working with it on another person, I was stumbling and mumbling and felt almost foolish. So, I decided, that while I understood the principles of EFT, including the quantum physics aspect of it (I'm an engineer too, Gary), I needed some support to further my quest and education in EFT.
Right after viewing the first DVD (and only an hour of it), I had an opportunity to apply EFT in a most interesting setting.
I was at my acupuncturist’s and was talking to her about EFT, when she mentioned that she was treating a patient in another room who had severe nausea after going through some treatment. She asked me if I would like to try EFT on her. "Ha!", I thought with excitement and trepidation, "This is my chance."
The lady (I will call her Lisa) was lying on the table, looking quite terrible. I told her that I would try some tapping on her and she agreed immediately. I rubbed her sore spot and asked her to repeat, Even though I have this nausea…, and she burst into tears! I said, "Oh this happens sometimes," and continued calmly.
I did a few rounds of shortcut tapping to see if it would bring down the nausea and then suddenly realized that I had not checked on her intensity level. I now realize how important it is to get a quantitative view to help both people involved to gauge what is shifting and how much. Lisa said she felt better, but I insisted on a number. It was a 2 on a scale of 0 to 10, down from a 10. I asked her if she wanted to sit up and check again. When she did, her nausea shot back up to a 8 out of 10.
This time, I asked her to sip some water and then we did 2 or 3 rounds with the 9-gamut. Now, Lisa said that her back bothered her. "Shifting aspects", I thought to myself. I asked her why her back was bothering her and what it reminded her of (I felt there was something else going on here). She said that it reminded her of her accident and consequent leg surgery and hospitalization. We then tapped on the accident and hospitalization. I asked her when she had the accident and she said, "in the ninth grade." I realized this was going to need some more creative thinking. So, I tried the movie technique. We tapped on various aspects of the accident, the parts that hurt her most, the doctor's insensitivity, and the IV in her hands (I think this was the crux, because the procedure she had had, that led to the nausea, also involved an IV). All this was using the shortcut, tapping on the head and thymus or heart center (I used these before I came across them in the tapes; I did so from my own acupressure experience + intuition).
Soon, she was smiling and said her nausea was gone and her back felt better. She got up and said that she could drive home now. I was happy and exhausted. The whole process took about 40 minutes.
Notes: I don't think I could have done this without having seen the DVDs (albeit, only an hour or so). Now that I have gone through the DVDs, I understand more about shifting aspects and about PR (there was a lot of PR going in and out, throughout the session and I did not know it at that time). Most of all, I understand that EFT works through me and not by me.
Lots of gratitude to Gary Craig and the EFT Community.
Aparna
