Dear Gary,
I am writing this article to illustrate the effect of surrogate tapping, even when the tapper is just a seven-year old child. Several months ago, I felt suddenly very ill one night with low grade fever and an excruciating sore throat that felt like hot glass poking the throat and ears. I immediately applied several rounds EFT (short-cut method) and then popped 2 Advils and went to sleep, hoping that I would be better in the morning. Next morning, I felt worse and went to the doctor who confirmed I had strep-throat and prescribed antibiotics for it.
Three to four weeks later, I developed the exact same excruciating pain, it came suddenly and at night. I felt a hot glass-like poking feel in the throat and ears and had low grade fever. I was really afraid that I might be getting strep throat again and was worried because I had skipped one pill in the antibiotic course by mistake.
So, I did a quick silent round of tapping for that fear of skipping the pill, and as I was tapping, my son asked me if I was not well. I said that I had a severe throat pain and asked him if he would tap for me. He agreed and tapped a few rounds (short cut) on himself while he mumbled some words. I was in pain and could not ask him what he was saying. So, again, I took two Advils and went to bed, hoping that I would be better in the morning.
At 2AM, I woke up and noticed that I could swallow without much pain and was not sure if this was the effect of the Advil or if healing had really occurred. I decided that the answer would be clear in the morning and went back to bed. I woke up refreshed and by 11 am, I was feeling fairly good and, unlike the first episode, had no throat pain. I remembered that my son had tapped for me and I asked him what he had said while tapping. He said - "Mommy get well". I told him that I was feeling good and that his tapping had worked, and he agreed!
Note: I am contrasting two similar episodes, with one difference, which was my son tapping for me. I am not sure what really worked, but deep inside I feel that his intent/tapping made the difference.
