Borrowing Benefits with EFT improves communication at a committee meeting

Hi Everyone,

Figen Genco helps the moderator of a meeting with a "tight throat" because she couldn't say what she wanted to. The meeting members look on and thus Borrow Benefits. This resulted in EVERYONE being freely communicative. Interesting result.

Hugs, Gary

As a dedicated group of alternative and natural healing service providers wishing to educate masses, we formed a new committee under one of our local chambers.

There are two big challenges we are faced with while working on our first kick-off event: First, the concept we are working on is very new and unfamiliar to our target audience, to the chamber members, and to us.  Second, the members of committee just met and do not know much about each other.

So, I have been creating a Feng Shui centerpiece with candles, plants, crystals in our meeting room to bring warmth, harmony and balance to the committee at our meetings.  The meetings seem very harmonious and peaceful.  However, after every meeting, I feel like something is NOT there.

At our last meeting, while chatting before the meeting, the Chair stated that she saw a terrible dream the night before and that the committee members were somehow involved.  I asked her if she had any physical effects of it.  She said she woke up with tightness in her throat.  I asked her if there were things that she wanted to say that she could not.

She smiled.  I asked if she would like me to help her briefly with EFT.  She said she would.  Since we didn’t want to take up a lot from our meeting time, I directly started working with EFT rather than explaining what it is and how it works.  While other members were watching, we started with the set up phrase after noting her level of intensity on a scale of 0 to 10.

We tapped three times, Even though I am holding back what I want to say with the fear of hurting others’ feelings…  And we tapped on this fear.  After the first round of tapping her intensity of fear went from 5 to 3 out of 10.  Then we tapped on this 3 fear, which brought it down to 1 out of 10.

Then we used the following setup phrases; I love and forgive myself for not being able to say the things that I want to say.  I love and forgive anyone else who I think is preventing me from what I want to say.  I choose to have the ability to say what I want to say without hurting anyone’s feelings.

After this round, she officially started the meeting and freely began telling us what was in her mind.  What followed was amazing.  Suddenly all the members had a lot of things to say.  They were, apparently, Borrowing Benefits as my session with the Chair unfolded.

I took the facilitator role and introduced them to the Indian Talking Stick (* see below) method so that everyone had an equal chance to say all the things they wanted to say.  And since others had to listen until one was finished, there was a total understanding of each other and no hard feelings.  Once everyone was done, great ideas came about and it turned out to be one of the very productive meetings.  Thank you Gary!

*The talking stick comes from the Native American tradition.  It is a respectful way of talking things out, especially in a disagreement.  When matters of great concern came before the council, the leading elder would hold the talking stick and begin the discussion.  When he finished what he had to say he would pass the talking stick to whoever wished to speak after him.  In this manner the stick was passed from one individual to another until all who wished to speak had done so. (We used one of the rocks from my Feng Shui arrangement instead since we didn’t have a stick available!)
