Hi Everyone,
Maria Aurora Villarreal from Mexico gives us this touching story that turns around the life of a young boy. As the article unfolds she says, "...two months later, the psychiatrist called me to ask me what I had been doing, that Leo was improving a lot and decided to stop the medication (on an observation basis)." Please consult physicians on all medical issues.
Hugs, Gary
Hi Gary,
I want to share with you some of my experiences with EFT and the children. I'm a Master in education and I specialize in learning disabilities and speech problems, I give tutoring to children that struggle in school or have some kind of social misbehavior. I have some wonderful stories to tell, but one that really got to me is the following.
I saw a friend of mine who'd had a horrible experience; her husband (lawyer) was murdered. They shot him at point blank range, while he was opening his office door. She looked fine and said she had gotten over it but was really worried about Leo her 9 year old son. He always had problems with academic notes because of his hyperactivity, lack of attention, incomplete assignments, forgetfulness, etc.
With the death of his father things just got worse, she had him out of his soccer practices and enrolled him in vision and hearing therapy four days a week, hoping that his would help him with the academic issues. He also was seeing a psychiatrist who put him on medication and Leo had been feeling sick every morning since he started the medication. I really saw her getting too anxious so, I explained to her what I do and if she wanted to give this technique a chance. She agreed.
Even though Leo is not doing o.k. at school...
Even though I don't know what to do...
Even though I don' know how to help him...
Even though I'm not sure about giving him the medication...
Even though is hard for me to make a decision on my own...
We tapped about 30 minutes and she was completely relaxed, so I suggested that Leo needed to get back to his activities and to take Leo to my office and she happily agreed.
I applied some tests that showed up all his fear, insecurity, anxiety, and low self esteem beside other things, and I went to see the school teacher and psychologist. They were so clear that I felt a little threatened. They told me "either Leo improves his notes or we have two choices - either he leaves this school or he flunks 4th grade."
For me none of them were a choice and I just told them to be patient. They said all right but that time was running out, and they didn't have a clue how, in a such a small period of time, Leo could catch up. They had already sent him to 3 different psychologists and specialists and none of them had any impact on Leo's behavior or grades.
As soon as Leo arrived I quickly explained to him about EFT and asked if he would give this new little weird technique a try. He said yes, with some disapproving looks on his face. We worked on his insecurity and the need to protect his home, his mom and sister.
Even though my dad once told me that a man protects the home and women, I'm a super kid.
Even though I feel overwhelmed to be the man, I'm still a great kid.
Even though I wish my dad was here I'm sure he is with us anyway (tears start to fall).
Even though I miss him so much I'm sure we'll be o.k.
Even though I feel so alone I am a cool kid.
Even though I'm afraid something might happen to us I choose to feel calm.
After his rounds his intensity dropped to almost 0 on a scale of 0 to 10 and I couldn't believe it; his face looked now so relaxed, no tears and I was impressed.
In other sessions we worked of other things that bothered him, and two months later, the psychiatrist called me to ask me what I had been doing, that Leo was improving a lot and decided to stop the medication (on an observation basis). I told him about EFT and he said he would search for more information (I said to myself, YES!).
Nevertheless, his grades weren't so good yet so I started giving him some learning strategies in HOW TO LEARN (from Don Blackerby and Rediscover the Joy of Learning) besides tapping and BOOM by 3 months later, Leo's notes average got up from 6.5 to 7.8. Incredible. I now was seeing him once a week until final exams. He passed all his exams and end the school year with an 8.3 average.
Leo's eyes told me everything, he was so happy when he showed me his grades. Now that he knows EFT he is a much more secure, happy and focused on what he wants as a kid.
Love,
Maria Aurora
