PRACTITIONER COMMENTS ABOUT THE EXAM AND THE PROCESS
Since the Certification Program was announced, we have received lots of helpful, constructive comments about the exam and study process, so we decided to make some of them available for anyone considering EFT Certification.
Please note that discussing exam specifics will jeopardize anyone's certification, so please do not contact anyone on this list for additional comments.
Happy studying,
EFT Certification Program
"And thank you again! I'm sure you've heard this before, but this whole process of study and review has been so worthwhile in more ways than one. I'm sure I'm a better practitioner because of it and the validation of being "Certified" is tremendous. The Study Guide was AWESOME in pointing me in directions that I might not have taken if left to my own devices. All in all, the whole experience deserves an A+."
Carol Pettirossi, EFTCert-I
"I have just passed the Foundations exam and want to say thank you for the opportunity to review the dvd's and the study guide. I found the study guide very clear, organized and helpful.
Even though I have been using EFT personally and professionally for many years, I knew that the review process would be beneficial. However, I am astounded at how helpful it actually was! There were things in those introductory dvd's that I'm sure weren't there the first time I watched them! The most fundamental concepts now sit more solidly in me than I ever imagined. I am inspired all over again.
Thank you to all who have been involved in putting this certification process together. I look forward to the next level."
Nancy E. Forrester, EFTCert-I
"My genuine feeling is that to pass this exam you really do have to know how and why we are being taught the techniques and that you do require a deep understanding of the process.
It is a very clever exam and will separate the garbage from the gold. I would definitely feel I can trust the understanding and the dedication of anyone who has taken this process."
Gillian Wightman, EFT Cert-I
"I thoroughly enjoyed reviewing the material required. As in previous reviews, I got caught up in the drama, the humour, and the personal experiences of all the participants.
For me, having the Study Guide for direction was invaluable in helping me to focus on the specific points and techniques, rather than overall approach; it was a great reminder of WHY I do certain things IN my overall approach!
The Guide also made it clear to me that, if I intended to pass the Exam, I'd better know my stuff! Happy to say, I did!"
Joanne Payne, EFT Cert-I
"I found the examination a real stretch. It was in such interesting depth and although the answers were all in the DVDs I found the Study Guide a real help and a very useful tool. The only advice I would give is that particular attention is paid to the individual client sessions as much of the art of EFT shows up in these sessions."
Terry Legg, EFT Cert-I
"I am so glad Gary decided to make these tests available. I have been an EFT practitioner for over three years and believed I was a pretty good vessel for EFT to work through. The re-watching of the DVD’s has made me an even better Practitioner! It refreshed my memory on many levels and I saw the DVD’s through totally different eyes from when I watched them the first time!
I passed my Foundational Level in November. What worked for me, may not work for you but here is how I prepared for the test. I first watched the whole Foundational DVD library. I then would read the study guide on a particular "chapter", re-watch that chapter and take notes. Then I made sure my notes covered everything that was presented in the study guide. If it did not, I want back and watched again. The test was very fair, I had plenty of time to re-view my answers and I also loved that I knew right away what my test results were (even though that was a little scary too!). My only comment on the test is I would have liked to seen which answers I missed."
Mary Elyn Bove, EFTCert-I
"I found both the Certification Exam process and the Study Guide to be pretty comprehensive and focused on the truly important points. The Study Guide is great with sufficient information on the level of details that one would need to focus on in preparation for the exam. I believe if one follows the Study Guide correctly, passing the exam would be a natural outcome.
Also for me personally, one side benefit of going through the EFT Certification program was to review the materials once again. Even though I had studied them in detail and had had a good level of experience applying EFT, it still was a helpful learning and refinement process."
Kevin Soltani, EFTCert-I
"I believe the exam fairly tested the material in the videos, manual, study guide and tutorials. It is necessary to watch the videos very carefully, taking notes and answering all of the questions from the study guide. Also, the recommendation to watch certain sessions several times should be followed.
I noted three categories of questions. One easy category could be answered without watching the videos, another category could be answered easily if the videos were carefully watched and a final category required a higher level of insight and awareness to answer the questions. I was not certain of several answers in the final category, but only missed 2 overall.
The passing grade of 85% is high and does not allow for careless mistakes. It does ensure that the videos have been carefully studied and digested!”
Jan Steele, J.D., MSW, EFTCert-I
"During the last 12 months, I have taught a lot of EFT 1 and 2 workshops in Belgium, France and Spain and gave about 150 EFT sessions. Just with this, I would not have been able to pass the exam. I think this is important to say to the persons who wish to do it: there is a need to study the DVDs, even if we are in EFT from head to toes."
Dominique Monette, MD, EFTCert-I
"I thought the exam was fair and the testing process was very user friendly with more than enough time allotted. My only other comment is actually advice to future test takers: Know the content of the DVDs and be able to relate EFT practice and theory to the content and the test will be a whiz.
Thanks for your hard work in keeping the integrity of EFT intact."
Forrest A Samnik, MSW, LCSW, EFT Cert-I
"I wanted to share that the study process for EFT CERT-I has been quite beneficial. It's always amazing to me what I missed even though I have watched the videos several times. I came away from this study time with several new ideas to practice and I found myself excited about them."
Patricia DeLozier
"I thoroughly enjoyed taking the test. Two hours was longer than I needed, but it was nice to know that there was plenty of time. It is important to watch everything mentioned in the study guide as there are specific questions about certain cases. You can't just rely on being a good practitioner with years of experience.
I made notes and comments on the study guide as I watched the corresponding DVDs and used them during the test. It was very helpful. The test is broken into sections, just like the guide.
Good luck and remember to have some fun with it!"
Hilde Meadow
"I am very glad you are instituting the Certification Program. I think it is necessary and will be a great boon to EFT. Re-watching the old dvd's in preparation for the first exam is also rekindling my already high passion and excitement about this amazing tool."
Nancy Privett, MA
"This exam makes it, I feel, absolutely necessary completely re-review all the DVDs no matter what your skill and experience. And I totally agree! I am really amazed how much I am learning seeing it again with a totally different perspective!
BTW, the addition of the study guide is wonderful!"
Margaret M. Lynch
"I realized as I re-watched the videos that I had forgotten many of the wonderful tips and advice that Gary offers in his videos. The more I watched these videos, the more amazed I was at how much fantastic material is in them. It's truly worth it to watch these videos, even if you've already seen them. Thanks to the certification program for the opportunity to learn again."
Susanne Peach, EFTCERT-I, EFT-ADV
"I personally found it very helpful to follow the study guide and to take notes based on the tapes and the study guide as I watched the DVD's. Before I wrote the test, I went back to my study guide and highlighted names and techniques and used sticky notes to help me keep track of important points. I also referenced the DVD beside each client's name so that I could check the relevant DVD for info during the exam if I needed to; mostly I did not, though as my notes were quite effective in taking me through the process."
Mildred Thill
"The exam process went well. I had all the information I needed before the exam in terms of using Explorer and time limits etc. The study guide was very helpful and I would recommend that future candidates take notes on the study guide have them available.
The exam itself was fair. Some easy and some tricky questions mostly because I hadn't written anything down on the guide about the tricky ones and couldn't remember the exact situation. I had plenty of time to finish. The whole process was a good review for me and reinforces some things I had forgotten about. Most of the videos I had seen several times, but there were a few that I wasn't as familiar with."
Mara Protas
"The study guides are a wonderfully helpful resource for all who view the EFT DVDs. The guides help clarify, summarize and focus the viewer on important points. For the serious student of EFT, one who wishes to become certified, the homework sections of the guide are a useful and indispensable gift."
Ann Adams, LCSW, EFT Cert-Honors
"The EFT Certification process is much more valuable than I thought. Already I've improved what I'm doing just by watching the first set again. It's amazing how much is on those DVDs!"
