Hi Everyone,
I don't think anyone likes to have correspondence with the "tax man." Pamela Bruner's client, however, had a full fledged phobia about it. Read how Pamela handled it.
Hugs, Gary
Connie (not her real name) approached me after a workshop, saying that she had a lifelong phobia that plagued her, especially from February to April every year. She was afraid of taxes, and the ‘tax man’. She had no explanation for this fear.
If a letter came from the IRS, she would hide it, unable to open it. This was not dependent on her ability to pay, since she was in comfortable circumstances. She had never been audited, and could not remember her parents ever mentioning taxes in either a good or bad way. The only thing that she could remember was that in Sunday school she had heard about the ‘tax man’ as a sort of boogey-man, but didn’t see how that could have caused such a strong reaction. She was uncomfortable even saying the word ‘tax’, and got upset seeing tax preparation commercials on TV.
Her upset just with saying the word ‘tax’ was about an 8 on the 0-10 scale. We tapped. Even though I don’t even like the word tax… After two rounds, her upset with the word tax went to zero in two rounds.
She mentioned again the fear of the tax man, but couldn’t verbalize the fear further, or explain it. I told her that with EFT, we didn’t need to understand the fear completely in order to vanish it. Her fear was at a 6. Even though I’m afraid of the tax man, he feels like a boogey man…
During the tapping, her intensity appeared to heighten, and she began crying softly. We tapped shortcut rounds without stopping, and her crying subsided after three rounds. I could see that the energy appeared to have cleared.
I asked if she had any more information for me, and she said no. She hadn’t realized anything during the crying, it had just been a wave of emotion. She mentioned that it was very unusual for her to cry about anything. And her fear was gone!
We tested it by having her imagine opening the letter from the IRS – no problem. Then I asked her to imagine that it contained a tax bill that was so high she couldn’t pay it – still no upset, just a desire to work it out. She also had no intensity using the word tax, and thinking about the tax man.
GC COMMENT: The ultimate test, of course, is when an actual letter shows up from the IRS. At that time she may be completely free of the fear but, if not, aspects will appear as candidates for "clean-up tapping."
This took about 15 minutes. Connie looked at me incredulously and said ‘How could a little tapping have done this?’
Hooray for EFT!
