Headaches fade after forgiveness addressed
Many thanks to Dr. Charles Reinert for his intuitive use of EFT for his client with persistent, intense headaches. You may wish to adopt his useful question of "Ruth, do you remember playing 'Let's Pretend' when you were a little girl?" In this case, it led directly to a core issue.
Gary,
I'm happy to report excellent success in resolving the periodic, intense headaches of a lady in her mid 80's. Ruth had come to our clinic a few days earlier for treatment of her several times weekly headaches and a "scratchy eyes" condition.
As she had no headache when she presented that day, we discussed strategies (other than EFT) which might be useful for her. At the end of the session, I asked her to call me IMMEDIATELY if a headache occurred, so that we could treat it at once.
Two days later, she called, in obvious pain. I went to her home and tried, "Even though I have this intense headache across my forehead,...." without, however, much change in several rounds of tapping. Then, following intuition, I asked her, "Ruth, do you remember playing 'Let's Pretend' when you were a little girl?"
She nodded, and I then asked her to imagine a story involving a lady, about her age, living in a small town like her own, who had really intense headaches. Ruth paused for a moment, then began, "This lady had had a really good friend, since childhood. .... But one day, when they were both grown adults, out shopping, her friend came to her, opened her large purse, and said, "Look at what I have for the grandchildren!" The purse was full of shoplifted trinkets!
Ruth continued with her "pretend" story, saying that thereafter, her "friend" was no longer a friend-- she simply could NOT be forgiven for that transgression. The conclusion of a successful treatment was in sight. We then tapped on, "Even though I don't think I can EVER forgive my friend for shoplifting..." and related phrases for a few rounds, and the headache and the scratchy eyes feeling were gone. (I often use the "hot potato" metaphor for a client's refusal to forgive--"Am I willing to carry this hot, burning potato in my hand, forever, just on the off chance that someday I can throw it at the person whom I can't forgive? Naaa!")
I then had her check the condition as best she could by moving her head and eyes, and nothing appeared. It's now been a week, with no more calls, so I think we did it!
