Dear Gary,
Very recently I bought and viewed several of your DVDs and immediately became excited about the potential to bring healing in all kinds of ways. When my wife woke up last week with a headache, I enthusiastically suggested we try "tapping". She had watched some of the DVDs with me and agreed it was worth a try.
She rated the headache at an 7 or 8 intensity. We did the set up and self acceptance and then tapped. She said it went to a 3 or 4. Then to a 1 or 2- but not in her head any longer. It was in her neck so we tapped for it there and it went to a 1 and then a zero. We were both amazed. Really amazed.
Then a couple of days later we had workmen redoing our bathroom. One was removing pipes with a reticular saw when he dropped the saw and held his hand up to his face yelling out in pain. I immediately thought he had seriously cut his hand. When I asked what happened, he said he had injured his thumb the day before when he got hit with a horseshoe at a horseshoe throwing contest. He said he didn't think it was broken but it was bruised and swollen. He said he wasn't sure if he was going to be able to work today because it hurt so badly.
I asked him if wanted me to take him to the hospital or something. He said "no it will be okay," but it was obvious he was in pain. So I just blurded out: "Billy, would you be interested in trying this amazing thing called tapping?" I explained what I understood about its moving energy around or something and accepting yourself. I laughed saying it didn't make a whole lot of sense to me but that it worked with my wife and others I saw on these DVDs.
My explanation took less than 30 seconds and he said "Yea, I'll try it, it can't hurt." I asked him the pain level on a zero to 10 scale. He said it was about a 8 or 9. I had him rub his "sore spot" and say out loud that even though he had this real sore thumb he totally accepted himself.
We both laughed out loud at how ridiculous this was. But I continued on in a very lighthearted way and told him to say "sore thumb" as I tapped on all the points I saw on the DVD. He smiled with a kinda look that says: "I can't believe I'm doing this" but blurted out in disbelief that the pain was a lot less. Half hysterically I asked "how much less on the scale." "About a 3" he said.
I was getting excited. I tapped some more on the "remaining pain." We both were smiling, next to laughter. I asked him how it was now: "a zero" he yelled half in laughter. Neither one of us could believe what happened. I followed him down stairs and listened in amazement when he told his work partner that his thumb didn't hurt any more. We looked at each other and laughed.
Thank you for introducing me to EFT. It is pretty amazing to my wife and me. And Billy too.
