15 year old neck pain disappeared along with a "Life is Hard" belief - Follow-up: still no pain after 1 month.

Hi Everyone,

This quality article by Deborah Miller from Mexico provides glowing evidence that physical symptoms can have some life long emotional roots. She says, "I could see this incredulous look on his face – as if he knew the pain was gone, but wondering where it went, was it really gone, would it stay gone. We finished our session at this point. Later that evening, he told me that he’d had this pain for 15 years. Now I understood the expression on his face. How could the pain be gone in about 20 min when he’d had it for years?"

Hugs, Gary

Gary,

Within a few minutes of doing EFT with Jorge, the pain in his neck and shoulders subsided as we released a familial belief that “life is hard.”

Namaste,

Deborah

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was showing Jorge how EFT works one afternoon since he had never experienced it. He asked me to touch the muscles on the sides of his neck. They were tight. He said there was pain in that area behind his neck and it was sore and tense. The level of intensity of the pain was a 9 or 10 on a scale of 0 to 10.
Jorge has a company that assesses problems and creates solutions for businesses. Of course, that includes all the responsibility of being the owner and in charge of the results. Apparently, he holds his tension and worry in the neck and shoulder area.
We started with the following:
Even though I have this pain and tension in my neck…
Even though I have this pain in the neck, I’m a good guy.
Even though I carry all the responsibility for my company…
Eyebrow: The pain, all the pain in my neck.
Side of Eye: The pain that doesn’t let me relax.
Under the Eye: The pain and tension in my neck and shoulders. I carry the responsibility.
Under the Nose: Life is hard.
As soon as I said this phrase I stopped. It didn’t feel right so I ask him if he believed that. He said no. He thinks life is beautiful. But the “Life is hard” phrase stuck in my head and I felt it would come up again later.
Chin: I work hard and I have a lot of responsibilities.
Collarbone: I work hard and there is a lot of tension and pressure.
Under Arm: I have lots of tension and pain in my neck.
Top of Head: All of the tension and pressure from being the boss. There is so much responsibility.
Eyebrow: It doesn’t allow me to rest. I have so much to do. I am working hard.
Side of Eye: I’m the one in charge and that puts lots of pressure on me. (He stated I love my work even though I’m really busy.)
Under the Eye: I let go of the pain and tension in my neck. I let it release.
Under Nose: I release the pain. I’ve held onto it for long enough.
Chin: I have to work hard and there is a lot of pressure in my work. (He changed the phrase to I have lots of work and I enjoy what I do)
I stopped. I asked him how his neck felt. He said the pain had dropped to a 7 out of 10. I noticed that he kept taking the negative phrases I stated and changed them to positive. I understood that as a coach he knows that positive intention and wording is important. I explained that I was using the negative phrases to find the energetic block and/or beliefs that he had. Yet, I felt resistance in him to saying the negative phrases.
I knew there was some hidden belief in the switching of the phrases to something else. He changed phrases about 7 or 8 times so it became very noticeable. (Note: I’m not saying that when I work with someone they “have to” repeat exactly what I say, in fact, it is common that words or phrases change and that is what helps me grasp what is really going on).
The phrase “Life is hard” came into my mind again so I continued:
We went back to the Karate Chop point:
Even though I believe life is beautiful, my parents believed life is hard and so I learned that one has to work hard.
Afterwards I asked if his parents believed that life is hard. He said yes, they were hard workers and believed that you had to work hard to get ahead. We continued:
Even though I learned that life is hard, I choose to believe life is beautiful.
Even though I learned from my parents that life is hard and one has to work hard to get ahead, I let that go.
Even though I learned that one has to work hard to get ahead, I can relax and let things come together, have results, be successful.
I won’t be lazy if I relax. I will still do my work. It is ok to relax and still work. Life can be beautiful not hard like I was taught as a child.
Eyebrow: I don’t have to be the only one responsible even if I’m the boss.
Side of Eye: I can ask for help, get it and enjoy my work without holding the tension in my body.
Under the Eye: I release the tension in my neck and shoulders. I don’t have to hold onto the tension.
Under Nose: I can work and be relaxed at the same time.
Chin: I enjoy my work and do so without being stressed and tense.
Collarbone: I release the pain and tension in my neck and back.
Under Arm: I relax and enjoy my work and get things done. Work is enjoyable and I am relaxed.
Top of Head: I enjoy my work and being relaxed. It feels good.
He checked and the pain and muscle tension in his neck was gone. He moved his neck and shoulders around over and over again, but couldn’t find any pain. The level of intensity associated with the pain was zero. I felt his neck muscles again and they were relaxed.
He made a comment that he hoped that after EFT his brain wouldn’t become like gelatin. For me, this was another aspect. If he stopped being tense (Life is Hard mentality) then there was the possibility that his mind wouldn’t be sharp. I’m glad the comment came up so we could get release it. I tapped with him:
Even though I relaxed and released the pain in my neck, it doesn’t mean my brain will become like gelatin. I can relax and still be bright and intelligent. My brain doesn’t have to go to gelatin just because I relax. I can be relaxed and use my brain well.
I could see this incredulous look on his face – as if he knew the pain was gone, but wondering where it went, was it really gone, would it stay gone. We finished our session at this point.
Later that evening, he told me that he’d had this pain for 15 years. Now I understood the expression on his face. How could the pain be gone in about 20 min when he’d had it for years? Jorge is now a believer in EFT.
The following day, we spoke and he told me the pain was still gone. He slept like a baby too when usually he would have trouble falling asleep. Thus, he had a secondary benefit after releasing the pain in his neck. Now a month after the EFT session, his neck pain is still non-existent. I’m so pleased that he could release the beliefs that made him hold tension in his body in order to do his work well.
