Eric Robins, MD and Lisa Cox on surgery anxieties
Hi Everyone,
Lisa Cox describes an extreme "surgery anxiety" that she was instrumental in relieving through EFT on the day before the surgery. Interestingly, it held through the actual surgery without any new aspects coming up. This is a testimonial to Lisa's thoroughness with her client.
As a result of her email, I phoned Eric Robins, MD, a surgeon with a Kaiser Hospital in Southern California, to get his comments on the anxieties people face before going into surgery. In Dr. Robins' experience, 80-90% of all surgery patients have noticeable anxiety before the operation--some of it quite severe. If this anxiety could be reduced or eliminated, he thinks that the amount of anesthetic required would be substantially decreased. Patient comfort, of course, would be enhanced as well.
Someday, maybe hospitals and surgeons will consider tapping prior to every surgery.
Hugs, Gary
I had a client who was suddenly called to the hospital for some surgery on her feet that she had been waiting for. Her experiences in hospitals had always been very anxiety provoking to the extent that her anxiety was at a 10 and she was sweating.
We went through the entire EFT procedure step by step from being admitted--to the needles--to the anesthetic--to going under--to waking up post op. She was about a 10 at every step along the way and we tapped on each new anxiety as it came up. When she left, she felt calm and was not afraid to have the surgery which was to take place the next day.
She called me a few days later to explain how the surgery went. She said everything went fine. She didn't get scared the whole way through. The needles were relatively painless and she didn't get cold or sick in post op, which was the norm for her.
