A Frequently Asked Question & Answer about EFT
What rights do I have regarding the EFT materials?
Hi Everyone,
This article is in response to the many questions I received over the years about your rights to use (1) the EFT logo, (2) articles from the EFT web site and the EFT email list, (3) our videos (4) The EFT Manual, (5) quotes from me .... and so on.
I am thrilled, of course, with all the interest in "getting the word out there." While most of these items are copyrighted or otherwise protected by copyright laws, these copyrights are in place to protect the materials from deceptive, misleading or unethical uses. Accordingly, all privileges mentioned in this article may be rescinded for anyone if we become aware of any deceptive, misleading or unethical uses.
That being said, the overriding spirit behind EFT is the sharing of the procedures and the spreading of the word. Thus the ethical use of all of our materials is encouraged if used within the proper spirit. I realize the term "ethical use" can be open to interpretation so I present below the following rules.
Rules
1. You are encouraged to use the EFT logo on your business material provided that you are, in fact, using EFT in your practice, and provided that you are using one of the two versions available for download in the Resources/Promo Material section of our website. Please be advised that both the terms EFT and Emotional Freedom Techniques are Registered with various governmental authorities and thus the ® symbol has been included in the EFT logos, and must be not be removed. You may not use the World Center for EFT logo seen on the emofree website for any purpose. Use of the EFT logos applies in general to business cards, letterhead, advertisements, brochures and related materials. However, many people also have websites, so please follow the additional guidelines below.
2. You may use the above mentioned versions of the EFT logo on your website to identify the sections where you have included EFT information, but you may not use them as the primary logo on your website. Just to clarify, the pages of your website should be structured with an original design to represent your practice, and any EFT logos you use will need to appear further down the page as a secondary graphic. Please do not make any attempt to clone the EFT website or use a design that could be mistaken for ours. Further, do not make any claims or representations on your website that would suggest that your practice is officially endorsed or supported by EFT, Gary Craig or emofree.com.
3. You are encouraged to use, but you may not sell, articles from the EFT web site and the EFT email list so long as you give credit to the author AND mention the EFT web site ( http://www.emofree.com ) as the source. This does NOT include the two series I have written known as Building a Thriving Practice and The Palace of Possibilities. In addition, if you are translating EFT articles into another language, please do not restrict the contents with a copyright (which would hinder their full use in other places).
4. Our videos on discs contain the right to copy them up to 100 times to give (not sell) to others. This applies only to the originally purchased videos and does not apply to the copies made therefrom. The copies cannot legally be copied again for distribution. Also, any copies given to others must also include a copy of the written instructions (if any) that accompanied the original videos. This helps answer any technical questions recipients may have and thus keeps them from calling me.
5. The EFT manual is freely downloadable from...
http://www.emofree.com/downloadeftmanual.asp
...and may be copied freely and given to anyone. You may give it out to clients, at workshops or anywhere else where the true intention is to spread the word. You MUST, however, give the entire manual...not just part of it ... including the chapter entitled "The Legal Stuff". You MAY NOT, however, place the manual on your own website as a download for others. People are welcome to download The EFT Manual, but it must be downloaded from the EFT web site.
The EFT Manual is being translated into several different languages and different arrangements may be made for downloads of the translated versions.
6. To avoid confusion, please do not publicize, sell, or otherwise promote any amended, condensed or blended version of EFT other than what is displayed in our video trainings without prominently stating (1) that your version differs from the original and (2) that you are not representing your teachings as the original version. You must also include proper legal disclaimers and prominently reference www.emofree.com as the ultimate source for proper instruction. This also applies to workshops you may give. The proper language to use on non-original versions of EFT is...
"This workshop/publication/etc. represents the views of the presenter(s) and not necessarily those of EFT, Gary Craig or emofree.com."
7. You may quote me and make fair use of extracts from anything I have written or said so long as you quote me within proper context and reference www.emofree.com as the source.
8. You may not use EFT materials or the EFT name to promote other products or services, and I reserve the right to revoke the privilege to use EFT materials or the EFT name by anyone whom I believe is using it in a misleading or unethical way.
I hope this helps, Gary
