Hi Everyone,

Sometimes children resist the tapping, even when it is in their own best interest. Read how Wendy Koebel addresses this problem with surrogate and imaginative EFT in behalf of her fever ridden 3 year old.

Hugs, Gary

Dear Gary,

I just had to write and tell you and your readers about another incredible parenting moment with EFT.  I use EFT much of the day with clients and never feel inspired to write but when I see what a difference it can make for a parent I just can't keep the news to myself.

Recently my 3 year old had been sick on and off for the 5 days.  He had a fever; he had red bumps on his hands, feet and legs.  He hadn't slept well or eaten well.  The lack of sleep makes him cranky and me almost unable to function.

One night I put him to bed and he obviously didn't feel well so I decided to lie with him.  The thought came to me - do what you know works - and that was, of course, EFT.  I pondered it a moment or two as I cleared my doubts and tried to get my intention as pure as possible.  This was about him feeling better, about his body healing and his need for restful sleep.  It could not be about MY need for sleep.

We were lying in bed and I simply put my hand behind his head and started saying things out loud as I lowered my hand in front of his face and chest.  The phrases I used were similar to these:

Even though I have this infection and my body can heal I have this fever but it can fade now as my body is healthy and strong I have these bumps but they are healing right now…

Wherever I picked up this infection I forgive and chose to release it.

Whatever message this infection was trying to communicate I thank it and let it go.

Whatever allowed this virus into my body I ask that it change and release it.

Whatever else is going on with this virus and these symptoms I acknowledge, but know that my body can be healthy and strong right now.

Anything else about this infection I choose to be healthy and strong.

As I stated above, I didn't actually tap on him I just used my hand a couple of inches from his face and body and imagined stimulating those points with my hand moving up and down.  Almost as if I was wiping the virus out of him.

After about 3 or 4 sentences he didn't like my hand moving over his face so I just cradled his cheeks in my hands and imagined doing it.  I ran out of things to say so I just lay with him, his face in my hand and imagined healing energy running through my heart center into his body.  After a few minutes I noticed that his face was no longer flushed and instead of feeling "on fire" it almost felt cool to my touch.

In retrospect, I wish I had gotten up to get the thermometer so I could have numbers to back up my story.  I don't need more proof, I know he had a fever when I started and I know he didn't when I finally left him sleeping peacefully.

I know this is not EFT in the standard way but I feel it incorporates all the important aspects and it shows how we have to be flexible when working with kids.  He was sick, cranky and over tired, he would not have let me tap on him.  I could have surrogate tapped for him, but honestly I was a little cranky and over tired too.  It felt good to lie with him and hold him and it made sense to allow that important bond to be part of the healing process.

Thanks again for allowing me to share my story and for teaching this incredible technique.
