Dear Gary,

I have been receiving referrals from colleagues to work with children using energy therapy. The following situation is with a 17 yr. old male who was unable to continue to go to school because of his inability to fall asleep until 5 or 6AM.

As a result, he slept until 3 or 4PM making school attendance during the day impossible. He enrolled in an evening school program for students with special problems but was determined to receive a regular diploma rather than the limited one he would receive from the evening school. Try as he did to change his sleep schedule he was unsuccessful. His days were spent playing video games. He came in with symptoms of depression, anxiety about his current situation and guilt about his having used substances when he was 14.

He is motivated to do well academically so that he can go to college. At14 his parents divorced (when he began using). I do believe the sleep problems arose from the fighting he heard during the night between his parents (for several years). We did tapping on the most troublesome of these memories, and his guilt about using alcohol and drugs. We also did tapping on his sleep problem. After 3 sessions he began going to sleep between 10:30 and 11:00PM getting awake by 7 AM. The first time this happened he felt so energized he cleaned the whole house!!! His mother said, "I nearly had a heart attack! He never did this before." This was a wonderful moment for me to experience! I am really enjoying working with children. They have such a refreshing perspective and insights.

Affectionately,

Anita Bains

Post-script: [written the next day] I saw him yesterday and he was smiling and not wearing his turned around baseball hat which he previously wore to bed (I never thought to ask about this before). He said he always had a tight feeling around his head which the cap eased. He no longer has the tight feeling and hardly ever wears the cap. We did not tap on this. He has not had any alcohol since beginning therapy. "I used to use it to take the edge off but now I don't have any edge to take off!" His sleeping continues to be normal. Feedback from mother, father, teachers, and FRIENDS is to continue doing whatever you're doing!

The session ended with his thanking me and a Big Hug! He wants to return to tell me about his planned future accomplishments.

Cheers,

Anita
