Hi,

It is simply amazing how some events from childhood restrict one's entire life and how easily EFT just takes away the reins and sets one free.  My male client feared he would have a heart attack if he went out of the area he lived in, and would not be able to return home. (He has a heart health challenge).  We tapped on the issue directly:

Even though I am afraid I will have a heart attack if I go out of the area I live in, I choose to deeply and completely accept myself and release this fear.

After an EFT round, he said, "I am afraid of leaving home."  We explored that a bit and discovered that, "When I was 6, I woke up and found myself in someone's house, in unfamiliar surroundings, alone in a dark room. My mother who was in the other room with friends heard me cry only after a very long time."  We tapped, saying exactly what he said above, and included forgiveness (he included "forgiveness" himself, as we were putting together the set up phrase).

We explored further, into any specific event that made him feel unsafe to leave home.  He said, "I often misplaced things like umbrellas and spectacles when I went out as a teenager, and I was always told that I cannot look after myself or my things when I went out of the house."

He picked up a specific event when his mother said the above.  He recalled the exact scene, remembering the house, what she was wearing at the time and felt “very sad in my chest" as he was narrating the movie.  His visual recall of the event brought back the sadness. We tapped until he got to a level of intensity of zero on a scale of 0 to 10 on this specific event.

Even though I feel very sad in my chest because I misplaced my umbrella 30 years ago…

Even though I was told I could not look after myself and I believed it for all these years…

Exploring further, I asked, “What will you have to do if you were to go out, that you don't have to do if you stayed home?”  He said, "I would have to look after myself.  I will have to take responsibility for myself."  Although he felt neutral saying it without any feelings associated with it, we tapped:

Even though I don't really like to take responsibility for myself I choose to forgive myself anyway.

Even though looking after me is a scary thought when I step out of the house, I choose to release this fear completely … I choose to learn a new way of being … choose to enjoy this new found freedom and to take charge of my wellbeing.

Even though stepping out into the world now at age 50 means I have to step out of my comfort zone, I choose to appreciate the gift of life, enjoy every moment, feel safe, and feel free.

The choices were put into the statements after discussing how he would like to feel in the absence of the fear.  This was one session.  This person had chosen to work out of his home for almost 30 years due to fear of stepping out of the house.  Two weeks after this session, he called to say that he felt so free he wished he knew EFT 30 years ago and felt sad that he has wasted his life.  (Yes, we tapped on that!).

I received a call from him a couple of months later, saying his cholesterol levels had gone down, his blood pressure was normal and he was planning a trip to Goa with his wife the coming month!  He was also enjoying going out without any of the old fear.  After his holiday, he planned to start a travel desk at one of the hotels in the city!

It is simply amazing how some events from childhood restrict one's entire life and how easily EFT just takes away the reins and sets one free.

Thank you, for the opportunity to share the gentleman's story here.

Warmly,

Jasmine Bharathan
