Relaxing a dying man

Important Note: This article was written prior to 2010 and is now outdated. Please use my newest advancement, Optimal EFT. It is more efficient, more powerful and clearly explained in my free e-book, The Unseen Therapist™.  Best wishes, Gary

One of the consistently valuable benefits of doing EFT is the relaxation it tends to provide. Even when clients have not yet reported the relief that is typically available from EFT, they will often be much more relaxed. Dr. C E "Buzz" Johnson reports using EFT on a pain ridden, 93 year old man on his death bed. As you will see, EFT reduced the pain in minutes and eased this man into a peaceful death. While death may not be our favorite topic, it is certainly better to have a peaceful one that to live painfully to the end.

Dear Gary,

A recent article on death reminded me of an experience I had with a dying man as described below.

He and his wife had attended some of my workshops and experienced positive results. She, 85 years of age at the time, had eliminated a life long craving for sweets. He, Jim, had eliminated his anger about having to have an oxygen tank with him all the time and once told me that I had changed his life.

His wife called me one day to tell me that Jim kept asking her to tap him to make him comfortable but she didn't know what to do and could I please come over. I used rubbing instead of tapping because of his frail condition. The next paragraph finishes the story that I thought you might find of interest.

In October I used these techniques to remove stress from a 93 year old man dying of emphysema. I arrived at his home just as the Hospice people had finished giving him a bath and making him as comfortable as they could. However, his facial distortions indicated lots of stress and possible pain.

After working with him a few minutes I asked if this was helping. He nodded since he didn't seem able to speak at that time. His face soon (in a few minutes) got very relaxed and in just a few more minutes he went to sleep. He died peacefully nine hours later.

The head nurse saw him after I worked with him but before he died. She was very impressed because she had never seen him so relaxed. She was interested in learning some of these new techniques but apparently the hierarchy of her organization was not. It is often very difficult to get new concepts accepted or even looked at or listened to. There is an interesting book that elaborates on this type of problem, "The Experts Speak" by Cerf and Navasky - a Definitive Compendium of Authoritative Misinformation.
