Hi Everyone,

Here's an interesting EFT approach for cerebral palsy. Many thanks to Mark Brackenbury for submitting it.

Hi Gary,

I thought I would share an experience with a client who has cerebral palsy.  I started working with Christina (not her real name) on some other issues and after our second session we had a few minutes left and I asked her if she would like to try tapping on any cerebral palsy symptoms. Christina said she would and we chose to tap on some tightness in her right hand that has been there since birth.  She gave the tightness a level of intensity of 10 out of 10.  After about 2 or 3 rounds of tapping on the physical, the tightness went to 3 out of 10.  A couple of more rounds didn't take it any further and we ran out of time.

The next session was a joint session with Jackie (my partner) and myself working together with Christina.  Jackie and I often try to work together if we have the time and the client is willing.  The tightness had returned after a couple days. However, we knew it went for a bit and thus it is my belief that it can go forever.

Now I don't know a lot about cerebral palsy but if it starts in the womb and /or comes from the birthing process then that seems to be the place to go.  Jackie used a guided relaxation and guided Christina into connecting with herself in the womb.  Jackie helped Christina connect with any feelings she was experiencing and we went from there.

I guiding Christina in speaking words to herself in the womb from her future self’s perspective and re-parenting herself while tapping.  I don't know if there is a name for this technique but if one were to talk with one's 8 year old self, one would start by saying, "8 year old Mark, this is the voice of your future, this is the voice of your adult self and I'm here to tell you the truth."  You would continue by speaking words that 8 year old Mark needed to hear and remembering that you are speaking to an 8 year old - not logically as much as connecting emotionally.

We talked and tapped on what Christina was feeling and what she was picking up that her Mum was feeling.  We did this near the end of the session and only worked on a little of the whole womb experience.  After the session her right arm tightness was back down to 3 out of 10.  Note we didn't talk and tap on any physical aspects.

Over a week later Christina came in for something else and her arm tightness was still 3 out of 10. We will keep working together and I really see unlimited possibilities.

I have had two other brief experiences with cerebral palsy.  The first was a friend's son.  It wasn't an appointment and we only spent a short while and only focused on the physical.  There was a little change in the 15-20 minutes we took introducing EFT and the actual tapping.  After which he wanted to watch TV.

The other was as a volunteer at a drop in/rehab centre.  We did about 3 rounds on the man’s inability to curl the toes of his right foot (since birth) and afterwards he could curl them as much as his left.

Jackie and I have witnessed some pretty amazing things by taking clients into the womb or the birthing experience.  I think this is potentially a powerful way to go with cerebral palsy or an issue that has been present since or before birth.

Thanks for your offering of EFT to the world Gary

Love and Qi,

Mark
