EFt Tapping Outdated ImageNote: This is one of 3,000 articles written prior to the updated Gold Standard (Official) EFT Tapping Tutorial™. As a result, it is likely outdated. Here is yet more evidence of the usefulness of doing EFT surrogately (remotely). Please note author Jo Ann Grogan's statement that, "I've learned a lot in the process and am really excited at the improvement for Grandma. The real trick to working surrogately/remotely, as you describe yourself in your DVDs, is getting out of the way yourself. I believe I've been successful because I was able to focus completely on Grandma and how she has been feeling - tuning in, and allowing my intuition to guide me as to what she needs."

Hello Gary,

I want to share my excitement in using EFT to help my 90 year old grandmother. I am a relatively new EFT Consultant.

My grandmother had been living with my mother in Florida, as her physical condition has been declining. She has Parkinson's and as a result has been quite unstable: unable to get out of bed on her own, cannot walk without assistance or get in and out of chairs, etc. and has been suffering from complete incontinence for the last several months. Her mind has some degree of dementia. She gets confused and frightened easily. Her hearing doesn't help - she has trouble with perception of words.

My mother decided it was time to put her in a nursing home. Grandma was afraid of going to a home and so my mother and aunt did not tell her up front. They had her admitted to a hospital first, as this is apparently the fastest way of getting into a nursing home - she just had to have a 3-day hospital stay, then would be taken to the home from there.

At the hospital, Grandma became angry and aggressive towards everyone - she tried to pull out her IV, would not cooperate in any way and was yelling at everyone. I could understand this completely - she was confused, didn't understand why she was there, and I think had a perfect right to be angry. They ended up sedating her.

When I found all of this out, I was very upset. I admire and respect my grandmother as a great lady and I hated her being treated this way, and felt her frustration and powerlessness. My mother and aunt were tapping themselves, but neither would tap her when I suggested it as they didn't think she would accept it. I decided to try surrogate tapping for her, as I am about 700 miles away.

I started early the next morning and first wanted to calm her. I pictured Grandma in my mind and focused on tapping myself on her behalf.

~ Even though I am angry and confused, I deeply and completely accept myself, and I choose to be calm.

~ Even though I don't know what's happening, I deeply and completely accept myself, and I choose for my mind to be sharp.

~ Even though I'm angry with my daughters, I deeply and completely accept myself and I choose to forgive them.

~ Even though I'm powerless, I deeply and completely accept myself.

~ Even though I'm frustrated with this situation, I deeply and completely accept myself.

She was much improved that day when they went to visit her - the hospital staff couldn't believe the difference in her... she was calm, in control and her mind was sharp. She no longer had to be sedated and was cooperating.

I continued tapping through her hospital stay to help her accept the situation. The transfer to the nursing home upset her and again she became angry and aggressive - and again she was sedated. I tapped further along the same lines of confusion, frustration, anger ... again she made a complete turn around and was fine from that point on.

Once settled in the nursing home, I used my intuition to guide me in further tapping and had no real plan...

~ Even though I have no control of my bowels, I deeply and completely accept myself and I choose for my bowels to function properly.

She'd been unable to make it to a bathroom for several months. That day she began and has consistently continued to use the toilet. Encouraged, I tapped for bladder control.

~ Even though I have no control of my bladder, I deeply and completely accept myself and I choose now to have control.

It worked - she's been dry ever since. So, the incontinence now has been cured for over a week. This is truly amazing as she does require assistance to get to the bathroom and the lack of staff at the nursing home makes this a challenge. She often has to wait 30 - 45 minutes to get help... she's doing great!

She was also having trouble with the dementia in that she could not remember that her granddaughter who was pregnant had not had her baby yet. She kept asking every day for pictures of the baby, and could not grasp that it hadn't arrived.

~ Even though I can't remember that Andrea hasn't had her baby yet, I deeply and completely accept myself and I choose to remember now.

She hasn't asked for pictures again... she does ask how Andrea is doing.

She has a lot of trouble perceiving words and this contributes to her confusion.

~ Even though I have trouble hearing and understanding words, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Again, she's been able to hear quite well since. I'd say Grandma has responded extremely well to EFT - above is a short list of the tapping I've done for her. And, all of these things were cleared up remotely and with just one shortcut round of EFT on each. What I haven't had much success with yet is further physical problems like being able to use her hands, being steady on her feet, etc. but will keep working at those things and let you know the results.

I've learned a lot in the process and am really excited at the improvement for Grandma. The real trick to working surrogately/remotely, as you describe yourself in your DVDs, is getting out of the way yourself. I believe I've been successful because I was able to focus completely on Grandma and how she has been feeling - tuning in, and allowing my intuition to guide me as to what she needs.

Thanks so much for this awesome technique! I'm often still amazed at what can be accomplished - even long distance!
