Important Note: This article was written prior to 2010 and is now outdated. Please use my newest advancement, Optimal EFT. It is more efficient, more powerful and clearly explained in my free e-book, The Unseen Therapist™.  Best wishes, Gary

Note: This article assumes you have a working knowledge of EFT. Newcomers can still learn from it but are advised to peruse our Free Gold Standard (Official) EFT Tutorial™ for a more complete understanding.

Hi Everyone,

Beth Taylor came upon a 16 year old asthmatic gasping for air on the ground near her country home. She applied EFT to this emergency situation and says, "By the end of one round, she was no longer gasping and her breathing was about 50% improved - much to my relief!  We did one more round, same as the first.  I would guess her breathing was about 85% to 95% back to normal by then - she was no longer breathing hard and seemed much calmer." Please bring this first-aid use of EFT to your physicians' attention.

Hugs, Gary

By Elizabeth L. Taylor

Dear Gary,

I was working in the orchard when I thought I heard someone yelling in my driveway, a rather remarkable event since my cabin is on 5 acres on a dirt road; I don't get a lot of drop-in foot-traffic.  When I got there, I found my sixteen-year-old neighbor, who had been out trying to locate a stray horse.  She was gasping for air and sank to the ground as I ran up to her. Between gasps she asked me to go down the hill to her family's house and get her brother to bring her inhaler.

Her eyes were wide with panic as she struggled for air, and I was afraid to leave her. I have no medical training other than CPR and have rarely been around asthmatics.  But I knew - and more important, remembered - EFT!  I immediately squatted in front of this gasping child, making eye contact, and told her that I wanted to try something that might make her breathing easier.  "Just watch me and do exactly what I do."  I began tapping the karate-chop point.

Even though I can't breathe...

Even though I can't get enough air...

She didn't repeat the words, which was fine since she could hardly breathe, but she watched closely and tapped on herself as I tapped on myself.  I used the short form of EFT with the reminder phrases,

I can't breathe.

I can't get enough air.

By the end of one round, she was no longer gasping and her breathing was about 50% improved - much to my relief!  We did one more round, same as the first.  I would guess her breathing was about 85% to 95% back to normal by then - she was no longer breathing hard and seemed much calmer.  Since she had started off with a specific request that I get her inhaler, I didn't want to put it off any longer - 'though the two rounds of EFT had taken less than a minute.  I asked her if she felt okay for me leave her to get the inhaler, and she nodded with a somewhat puzzled expression.

I foresee the day - and I hope it is soon - when the Red Cross and local fire departments will offer EFT training right alongside CPR as emergency response that everyone should know!

With gratitude and a huge hug,

Beth Taylor
