Hi Gary,

A friend came home from work; her husband was at his computer as usual.  She decided to take the time to meditate upstairs in the bedroom.  One and a half hours later her husband emerged from the office.  She was deep in meditation and enjoying it and not wanting to stop, but the mental conflict began, as she felt obliged to get up and cook dinner.

The longer she sat meditating, the guiltier she began to feel and eventually got up and cooked the dinner.  The next day we tapped her, and her aspects unfolded … I feel obliged to do the cooking … I feel guilty if I do not cook … I allow myself to be controlled by others … I am buying into his expectations … I am controlled by the expected female role stereotype … and I never agreed to this contract.

Then she had a really powerful, pristine-clear realization that her husband did not feel obliged to cook and had not feel at all guilty, leaving all the cooking to her for the last 20 years, and therefore she should not feel guilty either.

The next day she came home from work, he was sitting in the lounge, lighting the fire.  They sat and chatted for a while and then an unusual thing happened.  Her husband got up and said, "I feel like cooking" … and cooked the dinner.  The following day he took her out to coffee for the first time in years and she cooked the dinner and the day after that he spontaneously cooked the dinner again!  He also spent the weekend attending to all sorts of odd jobs about the house that had been outstanding for quite some time.
