Hello Gary,

I have been reading about EFT for sports improvements and as our lawn bowling club championships were to be contested I decided to try some tapping.  This is a small club I belong to but the competition is serious and titles are well defended.  I would not say that I was a competitive person; in fact I don’t play very much at all but enjoy the relaxation of it when I do.  I explored all the ideas that I held about being a winner and beating others.

  • Even though I’m not an expert, don’t bowl as much as other members do, feel guilty about beating someone I think is better than me.
  • Just feel bad about beating anyone, keep my place in the pecking order, don’t overstep your position, not good enough.
  • The green is too slow, the shot is too difficult for me, I can’t do run shots, the wind is too strong, The shot is too difficult, the opposition is just too good. 
  • Winning is not that important to me so why am I trying to beat someone whom it is important to.
  • Then I go a step further:
  • Even though I’m scared that if I am champion I will have to compete on the next level, then I’ll be up against the big guns. 
  • People in the bowling world will notice me, what if I let myself down.  I don’t have the time to put in the practice needed to compete on that level. 

Then I put in some positive Choices (thanks Pat Carrington). I choose to play to the best of my ability no matter who that competition is ... it’s OK to stand out ... I will be steady and remember the basics and not be distracted by anything including the weather.  I love and approve of myself win or lose.   

Then I did the Marianne Williamson quote: Even though my deepest fear is not that I am inadequate, my deepest fear is that I am powerful beyond measure…  Ending with And as I let my own light shine I give others permission to do the same and I am liberated from my own fear.

During the game when I was feeling anxious I mentally tapped, or did the rapid tapping on the finger tips with the thumb, mentally saying, “You can do it, keep to the basics, take your time and follow through.”

The result was that I won every game I played by quite a margin and am now the club's Women’s Singles Champion.  People may say that it is just a coincidence and I would have won anyway, but I don’t think so.  Now I will go on and play in the Champion of Champions against the best from all the regions clubs and that will be the test.  Isn’t this tapping fun!
