Serious Diseases

Multiple Sclerosis

MS symptoms subside nicely but secondary gains get in the way

Important Note: This article was written prior to 2010 and is now outdated. Please use my newest advancement, Optimal EFT. It is more efficient, more powerful and clearly explained in my free e-book, The Unseen Therapist™.  Best wishes, Gary

Hi Everyone,

We frequently get quality symptom relief for Multiple Sclerosis. However, people with serious diseases like this often have "reasons not to get better." These are commonly known as secondary gains and show up clearly in this case by Sylvia Ross. Please consul physicians on all medical issues. Please consult physicians on all medical issues.

Hi Gary,

I am submitting this because like you, I believe the core-issues of illnesses are emotional issues. Emotional issues of my client Lori, who has MS, are: (1) heavy burden of responsibility & (2) financial considerations.

Lori's, MS started around the age of 10-11, according to her doctors, when she went from graceful to clumsy. At that time in her life she was given the tremendous responsibility of watching out for her younger sister, who was mentally challenged. Accordingly she had to forgo her growing up years, with children her own age and she is still, at 45, dealing with responsibility to her sister, who although she lives independently, she still needs care she can't provide for herself. She had a lot of issues around this and a great deal of anger, plus the fear of her father's death and all the responsibility of her sister falling on her shoulders, when that happens.

Lori had been in counseling for years. She is bright and articulate about her emotional trauma.

Her biggest physical EFT correction was her "heavy legs!" She expressed that "she had stuffed, stuffed and stuffed feelings into her legs, for years" and we tapped on that for about 15 minutes.

She then smiled, got up and said the "Stuffed feeling was gone along with the heaviness." The true test was stairs, up to that point, she walked stiff legged and had to turn her feet outwards, to climb stairs. After, the EFT session, she could walk up stairs normally.

We also tapped for tiredness and she reported at the next consultation that she had gone on a field trip for 5 hours and didn't get tired! A major breakthrough for at the time of our first meeting, she was only able to stay awake for 6 hrs. total in a 24-hour period.

But, I just want to note: At the time we were working together, Lori was trying to get disability and Medicaid. She needed to be sick to have some income, because she couldn't work. She told me that in so many words She could handle where she wasbut she just didn't want to get any worse!

Lori desperately needed her disability money and Medicaid, and our sessions ended because of her need to be sick for her legal proceedings. I felt it was counter-productive, truthfully, as much as I understood where she was coming from. Her goal was not to deteriorate any further, and I am hoping we accomplished that.

In Love & Gratitude,

Sylvia S. Ross
