How my computer helped clear a fear of flying

Hi Everyone,

Since our computers are treasure chests of sights and sounds, why not use them to help test our results with EFT? This is what Betty Moore-Hafter did and she gives us the details in this well written article. This idea is useful for a wide variety of issues, not just a fear of flying.

Hugs, Gary

Dear Gary,

I just had the interesting experience of offering an "enhanced" session for fear of flying!

In a recent newsletter from the local Apple store where I bought my MacBook, there was information for downloading a new screensaver called "Holding Pattern - Coach Class."  It makes the computer screen appear as if you're looking out an airplane window.  You see the wing and watch the scenery passing below.  Sounded good, so I put it on my laptop.  The graphics are great and the scenery is stunning --just like looking out the window of a plane, which I love.

The very next day, I happened to take my laptop with me to my office, something I don't always do.  My client came in and her problem was - fear of flying!  Her fear had gotten progressively worse in the last few years so that the last few times she had flown, she'd been miserable.  She was coming to me because she had to take a trip within a few weeks and was already nervous and dreading it.

It didn't occur to me right away to use the computer imagery, but then she said, "What freaks me out is looking out the window at the wing -- I'm afraid the wing will fall off or catch on fire!"  Of course - why not have her view the screensaver and tap for all her feelings about looking out the airplane window?  It was perfect!  Sure enough, the vision out the airplane window, with the ground and clouds moving by, really brought up her feelings.  So we did EFT for every aspect until we were laughing together.

She had another idea for using the computer - "Let's search online for airplane noises.  Those freak me out too."  Within minutes, we found recordings of the noises you hear inside an airplane, so we could tap for those as well.

By the end of the session, she could no longer feel any fear while looking out the airplane window (via the computer).  And she could listen to all the airplane noises without feeling any anxiety.  She felt great.

I just heard from her via e-mail. Here's her report on her trip:

"Hello Betty - My trip was great!! I was so relaxed; there were a few times I found myself getting a bit nervous but I tapped and I was fine.  THANK YOU so much for your help - I still listen to my CD."

(I often make a relaxation CD with a mental rehearsal of the desired outcome and positive suggestions.  This just reinforces and enhances what we've accomplished with EFT and embeds the healing vision deeper in the subconscious.)

Peace and healing blessings,

Betty Moore-Hafter
