Hi Everyone,

Here's a quick case history on dyslexia that happened about 30 minutes ago.

I'm on the road and consented to see a dyslexia expert with his patient, Rachel. They came to my motel room where Rachel told me she had a lifelong problem with numbers. She couldn't, for example, write down phone numbers without screwing them up. Her worst problem was in having phone numbers given to her verbally and then trying to write them down. She also had a problem with lines. She couldn't draw a straight line (lots of curves every time she tried it) and looking at converging lines caused an "internal contraction" in the abdominal area. She couldn't, for example, look at a corner in my motel room where three walls came together without being forced to move her eyes away because of the internal contraction.

We tapped for looking at the corner and the internal contractions came down from an 8 to a zero but it took about 30 minutes of tapping to do it. Why so long? Well along the way it was discovered that she had a memory of being in a crib with bars (straight lines?) around her and feeling great fear (internal contraction?) because she felt that her mother might leave her. In my experience, the EFT process manages to bring up the underlying issue with great regularity. Just keep tapping and the "real issue" often bubbles up to the surface.

So I stopped tapping for looking at the corner and started tapping for what appeared to be the underlying issue. Several aspects came up regarding her insecurity around her mother. When we got these down to zero, I asked her to look at the corner. The problem was gone. The internal contractions were nowhere to be found and she could stare at the corner for several minutes with the only consequence being boredom.

I then gave her paper and pen and asked her to write down six different phone numbers which I gave her verbally (remember, this was her worst problem). To her astonishment, she got them 100% correct and didn't waver on any of them. This happened even though we never directly tapped on the phone number problem (but we did tap on the presumed underlying issue). I then asked her to draw some straight lines which she did rather well. No noticeable waviness at all. However, she wasn't pleased with the perfection of these lines. They looked fine to me so I drew my straight lines right next to hers. She then recognized that mine weren't perfect either and that her drawing was now normal.

The dyslexia expert then asked me to help him with his failure obsession. He obsessed about failing to cure his dyslexic clients and worried about it constantly. We only spent 3 or 4 minutes on the issue and, of course, I have no idea how much headway we truly made. Only time will tell. However, he left laughing about the problem.

Cheers, Gary
