When conflicting beliefs keep us stuck

Important Note: This article was written prior to 2010 and is now outdated. Please use my newest advancement, Optimal EFT. It is more efficient, more powerful and clearly explained in my free e-book, The Unseen Therapist™.  Best wishes, Gary

It is common for us to have conflicting beliefs about what is good/bad, or what is true/false or what is right/wrong. These beliefs tend to keep us stuck because they compete with each other. Manuela Csikor from Germany describes this dilemma and then I make some augmenting comments that you may find helpful.

By Manuela Csikor

Dear Gary,

First of all, thank you for this wonderful method!!

Since five months I'm working with EFT for myself and with others and sometimes I still can't believe that it is SO easy and delightful to see problems, pains, negative emotions burst like soap bubbles. EFT helps a lot to see things clearer and to understand myself/others better as soon as this soap-bubbles-fog disappears.

Now I would like to share a personal experience which might be helpful for others on their way to best performance - which I would NEVER have done before EFT ;-)

While tapping for my perfectly built "Aufschieberitis" (the disease of putting off tasks for a later time) I stumbled over two contradicting phrases, two highlighted "writings on my wall":

"I must be the best one/be successful (at school/job/etc.) to be loved and accepted."
AND:
"I must NOT be the best one/be successful (at school/job/etc.) to be loved and accepted."

Both writings have been verified throughout my life and while fighting against each other they prevented me from doing first steps. Now they melt away and do not longer keep me from doing things I do the way I feel it is the best to do them.

GC COMMENT: While Manuela doesn't say specifically how EFT was applied here, I might suggest...."Even though I have this conflict about what I must do to be loved and accepted...." and then I would suggest breaking down both sides of the conflict into the SPECIFIC EVENTS that caused these beliefs.

MANUELA CONTINUES: Wondering about what is coming next...

Yours, Manu
