Persistent tapping on several issues

Hi Gary - I currently have three clients diligently tapping away for several issues. Here is what they do. They all have lists of things they want to change. They may have an original list of 7 things or 10 things or 15 things (the amount doesn't matter but I wouldn't recommend doing more that fifteen at once). They consistently tap on each issue (all of them) three times a day, morning noon and night. When they feel that a "tree has been chopped down" (that there is no charge on that issue) they cross it off their list. Meanwhile, other trees do pop up. They write these down, and according to a hierarchy of importance to them revise their list. This way they do not feel overwhelmed.

Because these changes are often very subtle (to them), it is the people around the person who validates the fact that they have changed. One gal said that somebody told her she was "nice" and she could never remember having heard that before!

GC COMMENT: Insightful approach. You are right about the subtle nature of the change and that clients often have to be reminded how things "used to be." This happens with some frequency and may be aggravating to the therapist because, of course, we want instant and profuse credit for all healings within 50 miles. On the other hand, what better result could we ask for than to have a change so beautifully integrated within the system that is so natural that it goes "unnoticed?"
