Emotions, physical ailments and hidden issues

Important Note: This article was written prior to 2010 and is now outdated. Please use my newest advancement, Optimal EFT. It is more efficient, more powerful and clearly explained in my free e-book, The Unseen Therapist™.  Best wishes, Gary

Hi Everyone,

As we gain experience with EFT some of the more obvious "aha's" include, (1) clear evidence that our emotional issues and our physical ailments are linked and (2) how quickly new (hidden) issues come to the surface for treatment. Both of these are displayed in the following personal post which John Burik was kind enough to share with us.

Cheers, Gary

Hi Gary,

I've been dealing with a chronic muscle tension on the left side since the early 90's. The tightness centered in the back of the left shoulder, but extended up the left side of my neck, and down the left side of my back to my left hip.

As I'm completing a year-long training in Gestalt therapy, I decided it was also time to clear up any of my own stuff. Last week my therapist suggested trying TFT, and began by checking for psychological reversal. I tested strong for wanting to get over the problem, and deserving to get over the problem. However, I tested weak on "it's safe to get over problem," and "I forgive myself." When my therapist asked what I needed forgiveness for, I immediately responded, "because I'm not perfect."

I drove straight home and re-opened your training packet and reviewed the first tapes. I did sore spot correction for PR. As I did, more and more things popped up about which I was conflicted and which seemed to be related. Thus, I spent approximately an hour just in this phase. Finally, I went through the basic recipe and got almost complete relief on the the left side tension. As I continued, more and more "metaphoric" aspects arose: people who'd "left" me or whom I'd "left" and ways in which I was "holding back." By addressing all these issues, I was able to get complete relief from the chronic muscle tension.
