Hi Everyone,

Here's a useful idea by Paul Zelizer. He says, "This friend was already familiar with the basics of EFT.  So, I suggested he tap on his hands under the table.  We used the Karate Chop point with the Setup phrase of Even though I’m freaking out about money…  Then he tapped on the finger points..."

I have had two clients who found it helpful to have a way to do EFT in public places that didn’t involve tapping on the head or face.  I thought others might find uses for this as well.

The first case involved a meeting with a friend at a busy local coffee shop. While the stated goal was to look over his website and come up with some new marketing strategies, it quickly became apparent that he was stressing about money to such an extent that we weren’t going to make much headway.

This friend was already familiar with the basics of EFT.  So, I suggested he tap on his hands under the table.  We used the Karate Chop point with the Setup phrase of Even though I’m freaking out about money…  Then he tapped on the finger points (we used all five fingers) originally laid out in the EFT sequence but now infrequently used.  While tapping on these points, he used the reminder phrase "freaking out about money."

With two rounds of tapping like this under the table, his intensity level went from a 5 or 6 on a scale of 0 to 10 to “completely gone”.  We did this surrounded by dozens of people eating their breakfast and drinking their coffee.  No one had any idea we were doing EFT.  We then went on to have a very productive meeting because the emotional tone of our time together was that of appreciation and love rather than fear and doubt.

Earlier this week, I was working with a client on weight issues.  One of her downfalls is salty, greasy foods like potato chips.  After several rounds of EFT, we tested our work by having her open a bag of chips and taste one.  She said that they tasted “greasy” and she didn’t want to finish the one she had bitten into.  She closed the bag and put it away with the comment, “they are completely uninteresting”.

I then shared with her that with food compulsions the cravings can come back under stress.  She felt confident that she could handle cravings if they surfaced at home by using EFT.  Her big concern was "what if I'm out in a restaurant or other public place and cravings surface?"

I suggested two options.  First, if cravings arose, she could excuse herself to the bathroom and tap in private there.  As a second option, I taught her this version of tapping on her fingers under the table.  She loved the idea and said it gave her confidence to eat out and go to parties without fear that her cravings would take over.

Once again, I am very grateful for EFT and the many flexible ways that it can be used.

With gratitude,

Paul Zelizer
