Surrogate EFT when the client is too busy to make her appointment--hip pain relief

Hi Everyone,

Diane von der Weid from Switzerland explains in detail how she and her husband resolved a client's hip pain by "tuning in" to her while she was at work. We all have the ability to do this. Most of us, however, never try it because of a belief that it is "impossible." Think again.

Hugs, Gary

Article: Dear Gary,

I would like to share an unexpected surrogate EFT session that my husband Alain and I had some months ago, during which my client Jen (name changed) felt really unusual things.  A month after that session she kindly wrote us a letter describing all she had felt during those 45 minutes, so I can now tell you the story in full.

Jen is a very busy executive secretary.  She had been suffering from a terrible pain in the hip for two months before she called me to set up an appointment.  During those two months, she had been going to a chiropractor once a week - with little or no results.  On her call she told me she suffered terribly, and thought she could have a try with EFT (she didn’t know much about EFT at that time).

I told her that with EFT we will consider the cause of her pain as being emotional, and therefore we will be going into possible emotional causes.  But she said, “No, no, this is not linked to an emotion.  I just urgently need to get rid of this pain, it makes my life impossible.”  Despite my reluctance to give a “superficial treatment”, I agreed to help her because she insisted and also because she sounded so desperate - this kind of “permanent” pain can truly drive one crazy.

Jen lives and works 80 miles away from me, so we agreed for a normal EFT session over the phone, just a few hours later.  At lunchtime she called me from her office and described her pain as being a level of intensity of 8 out of 10 in her hip.  But she added that unfortunately she had to cancel our session because things had gone wrong at her office and she now had much work to catch up; she said that since it was already an extremely busy day, she was now really, really stressed and she just could not add one more thing to do.

Under these conditions, I told Jen that she didn’t have to cancel the session because I could do EFT for her if she wanted; I told her that all she had to do was to keep working and just report the changes if/when they occurred.  She was so happy to hear that!  My offer was also perfectly fine for her because she believes in energy work.  And since Alain was free over lunchtime and willing to help, I asked her if it would be ok for her for him to work with me on her pain.  She immediately agreed to that.

So we tuned into Jen’s hip and Alain was the first to “see” something.  He described a tight black bundle (like made of knots) the size of a ping-pong ball – with a level of intensity of 8 out of 10. So we simply tapped on this :

Even though I have this tight black bundle in my hip… it reduced to 7 out of 10 in his vision.

Even though I still have some of this tight black bundle in my hip…

We had to persist because we could feel it going down slowly.  And as the intensity went down, Alain could see the bundle diminish.  We were at 4 on a scale of 0 to 10, when I “saw” that there was a long muscle abnormally stretched out between her hip and her thigh.  I described this to Alain, and starting with a level of intensity of 8 out of 10, we both tapped:

Even though I have this muscle stretched out like an elastic…  It went down to 7 out of 10.

Even though I still have some of this muscle stretched out like an elastic…

Here again we had to persist because the level of intensity was going down very slowly.  When we reached 4 out of 10 we had another image – this time both of us got the image - another tight black bundle, just one inch under the first one and the level of intensity was 8 out of 10.  So we tapped on that one too.

The very unusual thing that happened to us during that session was that both Alain and I started seeing the same thing (usually, when working together, what we see or feel is complementary), plus we were feeling the exact same levels of intensity for the client.

After 20 minutes of tapping we both felt at the exact same minute that it was all better, and that Jen’s “overall pain” in the hip was down to 4 out of 10.  And within the next five seconds, Jen called, and said, “The pain is down to 4 out of 10, I feel much better, this is incredible!”  She added that what we were doing was really powerful, and that she even felt so dizzy that it was a good thing she was sitting down; otherwise she might have lost her balance.

We worked surrogately on her hip for another 20 minutes.  Interestingly enough, in this second part of the session we ended up doing EFT on some of her unconscious emotional issues, which all linked to her family situation.  The great part was that by working together, Alain and I could refer to each other, thereby confirming on the spot what we were intuitively feeling.

Jen called again and said that it was now down to 2 out of 10.  I do not recall her exact words, but she was really excited about all the sensations she had had during the session.  We agreed that we would end the session there, but that Alain and I would do some more surrogate EFT for her later on, to try and take her pain down to zero.  I asked her to give me feedback for that. Two weeks later she wrote me the following letter:

“When I called you to set up for an appointment, I was suffering from an acute inflammation in my hip, to a point where I could hardly walk anymore.  During the session I was sitting on a chair.  At first, I felt heat rising slowly through my body all the way up to my head.  When it reached to my head I had strong dizzy spells pulling me backwards and pinning me to the back of my chair - at the same time my pain was calming down.

This repeated itself in the same manner for three times.  Each time I felt as if degrees of pain had gone.  You told me that the pain may eventually come back (What I had really told Jen was, unless we work on your emotional issues, the pain will probably come back) and that you would do more EFT to try an bring down the last 2 degrees of pain. But for the last 2 degrees, I did not feel these amazing sensations as described above.  The pain is now all gone and has not come back, and I hope it will stay that way. I thank you so much!”

Two days after her session by telephone Jen called me to announce that her pain had gone down to zero.  But I owed her the truth - Alain and I just had not had the opportunity to get together again to do more EFT on her since then, so the “zeroing” must have been due to the work done during our surrogate session!  Actually, we both have noticed that the benefits of EFT sessions can be felt much later.

But one month later, after she had spent an active weekend at home, the pain in Jen’s hip returned – confirming the necessity of going a little deeper into emotional issues in order to get rid of it definitely.  However, recently she told me that she still had a pain in her hip and that this pain was at 4 out of 10.  But she also said that since our session (five months ago) her pain never reached that same intensity (8/10).

This unusual surrogate EFT session was for Alain and myself a truly amazing experience.  And wow, EFT can be some real strong stuff !

With warmest wishes,

Diane von der Weid
